So to speak

This publication for individual preparation for public speaking summarizes years of work by the Kyiv-based rhetoric school “Aristotle” with people of different professions and ages — from those just beginning their careers to company executives, from aspiring public servants to well-known figures in politics and government.

Each of the school’s trainers, active from 2012 to 2020, loved their work deeply and the main source of that passion was people and their diversity. The trainers themselves became co-authors of the book: Veronika Selega, Kyrylo Andrieiev and Olena Kozeletska. For them the key principle was always embracing individuality and making it the center of one’s efforts. Many people rejected this approach, wanting instead quick skills that would lead to success. However, the authors believe that what truly matters is the unique combination of traits that makes each person unlike anyone else.

The publication is intended to become both a handbook and a source of support for preparing speeches and other forms of public communication. The book includes illustrations created specifically for this edition, as well as detailed analyses of speeches by well-known figures, transforming preparation for public speaking from an exhausting process into an engaging act of creativity and self-expression aimed at changing the world for the better — beginning with one’s own world.

The book features speeches by Benjamin Franklin, Olena Zelenska, Myroslav Marynovych, Oleksandra Matviichuk and Woodrow Wilson.
