Sоlomiya #3

“Solomiya” is a magazine created in April 2022 by Sebastian Wells and Vsevolod Kazarin in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The English-language publication focuses on conveying contemporary realities through the eyes of young Ukrainian creatives.

The third issue of “Solomiya” explores masculinity in wartime, as well as the innocence of youth set against the harshness of reality.
Inside: previously unpublished photographs by Alex Mashtaler; reflections on challenges rooted in Ukraine’s colonial past; perspectives on propaganda and art during war through personal views and artistic practices; Russia’s expansive architectural interventions in occupied Ukrainian territories; the experiences of young Ukrainians abroad; a series of drawings by Margarita Polovinko.
