Maria Prymachenko: Glory to Ukraine

This bilingual edition (Ukrainian + English) includes more than 100 original works by Maria Prymachenko from the collection of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art and the Ponomarchuk family collection. It also features the artist’s personal belongings — an apron, a traditional embroidered blouse, embroidered panels created by Prymachenko herself and the scissors she worked with, provided by the Prymachenko Family Foundation.

Texts include a foreword by Peter Doroshenko and an introductory essay by Oksana Semenik, in which the researcher explores the many dimensions of Maria Prymachenko’s work — from mythology and folklore to her unique visual universe, from irony toward the Soviet system to reflections on the Chornobyl disaster and from ceramics to embroidered textiles, a lesser-known aspect of her practice even within Ukraine.
