Remarks on Colour
13€
Remarks on Colour (1977) by Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889–1951) is a collection of notes organized by Elizabeth Anscombe from texts Wittgenstein wrote during the final years of his life. The book explores the problem of color, which had interested Wittgenstein since the time of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (1918/21).
Wittgenstein argues with Goethe and Runge, discusses impossible colors, blindness and color blindness, and ultimately demonstrates the connection between language games and the use of words that describe color. Though fragmented and seemingly chaotic, the text offers both a new perspective on the philosophical problem of color and a continuation of existing traditions. The book will interest philosophers, artists, scientists, designers and anyone who experiences the world through color.
