The book explores the problem of color, which had interested Wittgenstein since the time of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (1918/21). Wittgenstein argues with Goethe and Runge, discusses impossible colors, blindness and color blindness, and ultimately demonstrates the connection between language games and the use of words that describe color.
